Your travel plans should follow the treatment schedule, medical guidance and document requirements for your program. This guide covers practical questions about entry requirements, accommodation, appointments and preparing to return home with a newborn.

Getting to Yerevan

Yerevan is served by Zvartnots International Airport (EVN), a short drive from the city center. Direct routes and connections change by season, so check current flights with the airlines before you book; many travelers connect through major hubs in Europe and the Middle East. Our team will meet you at the airport and drive you to your accommodation.

Do you need a visa?

Visa rules depend on your passport: citizens of many countries can enter Armenia without a visa for short stays, and many other nationalities can apply online through the official e-visa portal (evisa.mfa.am) before traveling. Rules change from time to time, so please check the current requirements for your passport on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, or ask your coordinator.

Where to stay

For a short IVF trip, a comfortable hotel close to the clinic is usually the easiest choice. For the birth, when you will stay several weeks with a newborn, many families prefer a serviced apartment with a kitchen and washing machine. Our concierge team can recommend and book options that fit your budget.

Getting around

Yerevan is compact and easy to navigate. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are affordable and widely used. During your program, transfers between your accommodation and the clinic are organized for you.

Money, phones and practical tips

  • Currency: the Armenian dram (AMD). Cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops, and ATMs are easy to find.
  • SIM cards: local SIM or eSIM plans with mobile data are inexpensive and available at the airport.
  • Language: Armenian is the official language; Russian is widely understood and English is common among younger people and in hotels. Your coordinator or a translator accompanies you to medical and official appointments.
  • Climate: summers are hot and dry, winters can be cold and snowy. Pack accordingly, especially if you travel with a newborn.

What to see between appointments

Yerevan is a city with a very long history. If you have free time and feel well, you might enjoy:

  • the Cascade complex and its views of Mount Ararat,
  • Republic Square and the evening fountain show,
  • the Matenadaran museum of ancient manuscripts,
  • a day trip to Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery,
  • Lake Sevan, about an hour’s drive from the city.

We can organize private, relaxed tours that fit around your medical schedule.

Travelling home with your newborn

After the birth, plan for an estimated three to five weeks while documents are prepared; it can take longer. Before the flight home, ask the pediatrician to confirm your baby is fit to fly and check your airline’s rules for newborns. Read our guide to bringing your baby home from Armenia for details about the birth certificate and passport.
